This is a photo from the first wedding i helped photograph....i used a pocket sized nikon that most people carry to snap shots of friends at parties...not my finest hour but one of my favorite shots. It actually may be the only "good" shot i got at that wedding...my partner (in life and business ) managed to get a few more that were good using the same camera, so we put together a decent package from that wedding. funny thing is the brides father hired his own wedding photographer and provided the couple with his own package of photos...my wife an I had been upstaged at our very first wedding. Its all good though, we really weren't ready to be taking on a wedding all on our own yet...and we were doing it for family....long story short we learned a lot and it scared us away from photography for a while.
Details we learned:
- Get good equipment to work with including photo editing software
- Make sure you are the exclusive photographer, too many cooks ruin the dish
- Plan everything out, and we mean everything from rehearsal to delivery of photos
- Even if you are doing this for free make sure your Costs are covered (in advance)
- every event adds to or subtracts from your reputation...you can't un-take a photo
this was a great starting point for my wife and I, we were able to see the hectic side of even a small wedding and figure a few things out, but the best is still yet to come in this area.
