White Wedding

Here are two pics ...random and untouched .....from the wedding we shot last sunday....I had to make sure not to show faces yet because we haven't given them the shots yet hehehe...I don't think they will mind if I post these two though. This Awesome couple got married sunday at a public yet kinda private spot here in hampton roads...a small service with just them and us...well the pastor too but other than that just them and us for the pics...I had such a fun time....check the fan page in a couple weeks for the sample shots from the wedding and as always they will be on ...probably both of our websites :-)

We ended up shooting for about 2 hours after the ceremony! that is saying something because the bride happened to be 6 months pregnant...you couldn't really tell judging by her ability to get around....well she didn't climb the tree or the rocks...but not many brides would have anyway LOL.... she did awesome though because even I was hot and sweaty at the end of this session....but it was all worth it...the area they chose has some SERIOUSLY AWESOME areas to shoot...a cave...a mural wall...a pirate ship...a beach..and rocks...oh even a gazebo overlooking the ocean....gazzzzzeeeeebbbbbooooo love that word LOL.

I can't wait to get the chance to shoot there again...there was even a few things there i didnt mention that i simply have to shoot...so anyone wanting an AWESOME on location session let me know ..ill even drive if need be...heck ill do this at 50% of our normal rate ...but you have to tip 100% ...kidding....unless your gonna do it :-)

at anyrate...the wedding went well....and so did the session...we even got a lil video for them ..shhh...

awww maaaaan

yeah the pic is totally random...and in no way goes with this post..... today ...... we actually had to turn down a wedding!!!!
we were recommended by a friend to someone who had a bit of a falling out with their photographer....3 months from the wedding date! So as you can imagine...the bride was stressed and scrambling to find someone.....well...when she contacted us we were really excited...1 for getting the opportunity to shoot another wedding and 2...we got recommended..word is getting out !!!
well we had her fill out our short questionnaire so we could figure out how to price things and there it was....she was having her wedding in front of the shark tank in the aquarium!!! awesome Idea...bad lighting....really bad lighting! back light from the shark pool..no flash allowed...man ..just wow....not saying it couldn't be done because it can...and Im sure we would have done a great job..but at this point in our young careers we had to say you know what...lets refer her to a friend of ours and let them take this one...

Why?....well see she was going to needs external lighting source that was not flash...and not only is that expensive stuff...the aquarium would need to approve of having it there...and...the lenses needed to shoot that...oh wow...those things cost more than a used car....see we are but humble photographers who try to keep our prices under 1k...we do small weddings for people who cant afford to rent out the palace lol....the lens she would have required cost more than what we charge for like 5 weddings LOL...so we sent her to someone who already had the needed equipment.....really sad to do that...I love shoot...especially new environments and original ideas however...i know that right now this one is just out of our league...lighting wise...unless a loyal reader out there wants to donate a couple thousand to some up and coming local photographers / artists... :-) hey it could happen! Lol.

So yeah thats the big news...we said no..even when we didn't want to lol. so I hope you enjoy the blog today...sunday is getting closer and closer..cant wait for this wedding shoot..and to post the pics...OOOOOOOyeah! alright people...thanks for reading!

711 Bike

ok...so I pulled in to get Gas near our super secret location in virginia beach...and what do I see? this awesome bike...I had to get a couple photos of this thing..it was AWESSSSSOOOOMMME! Im not an avid bike guy but I know what looks good when I see it and this definitely made it into that category....I asked if I could take a couple shots and the gentleman was kind enough to let me do so...i had to move quick because he was at the pump and there were cars in line...so I snapped two or three photos and then grabbed a couple more on his way out.....I didn't get his name as he seemed a bit rushed to move out of everyones way...rightfully so...so if you know him..or you are him...contact me..I have a few more good ones you may like ...free...just contact me .....and thanks for letting me shoot your bike!....to everyone else reading this....don't know why I put these up here other than to say....that bike was sweeeeeet....gonna get one... one day! hope you guys enjoyed the pics and short story...more meaningless fun to come stay tuned...Later

YFAM event #1

Here is a shot from one of our first events...we did the event for free...our kids were performing :-) this girl could really sing...but what captured my attention was the smoke in the background...i remember thinking when I got this photo..this is going to look sooooo cool...don't know what you think...but I was right....we posted the pics from the even on Facebook for all to take ...in about 24 hours we were all over Facebook and our fan page jumped from about 20-30 fans (it was brand new) to over 100 fans....the shooting was a blast...the pics turned out great..and the publicity has yet to be matched. we got shots of dancers...belly dancers...rap artists...singers...spoken word performers...you name it we got shots of them all...and they went up on pages like lights on a christmas tree! If you watch our fan page you will see some of the events pop up on there from time to time but we mostly like to just be parents in the crowd at this point :-)

On another note...our business has grown by 100% in the past 2 months!!!! not too shabby for a start up in bad economic times if I do say so myself....and i just did ....excuse me while i pat myself on the back............... and Im back!.... I do hope yo u have enjoyed reading this post...it is pretty much a bonus post...the only real intent was to put up on of my fav photos.... I just do some talking to round it out a bit...the real post will be sunday after the wedding...however I felt it would be cool to entertain the hoards of fans out there ( big thanks to all three of you!) with some pictures that aren't often seen...stay tuned for more random photos and useless jabber by yours truly! till next time...Later people!

Up to this point

I will eventually tell more stories about weddings and lessons learned from them however, I have decided to make this a weekly blog...at least....A place where I discuss the happenings of our little upstart photography business.....the picture you see above is actually our new Facebook Fan page picture. It looks better there as it has our slogan on it and all that cool jazz....we actually got this pic from a recent couple shoot here in Virginia Beach. You can see some of the pics from that shoot on our web site www.promisephotography757.com and our fan page as well. Lately we have been going to meetings trying to book weddings and doing couple shoots....we recently did a "Trash the Dress" shoot on a local beach that really seemed to create a buzz about our work...well from there we were able to book a "Senior Portrait" style shoot and the couple shoot that gave us the pic above...and we were able to get a verbal agreement to do a "private" shoot for a young lady wishing to send some "tasteful yet erotic" shots ( lingerie ) to her boyfriend who is away right now....needless to say that beach shoot went REALLY well for us on a promotional level...the couple shoot gave us not only the pic above but was a deciding factor in booking two weddings this week and gaining a lead on a third.

Our kids love to dance..and are a part of a local dance crew ( YFAMD ) so we end up getting pics and video whenever we go to a show or event they do....well we post those pics for all to have ...and I must say we are all over Facebook now LOL...why is that important...we were asked to do some promotional shots for a local nightclub... that isn't exactly something we are trying to make a part of our regular shot list but every opportunity is presented to us for a reason sooo.... our next move here is to get the proper flash for the dark environment and hopefully take some killer shots that don't normally lend themselves to that style of photography, ill post some when we do the shoot....will be a while ....like I said we need to add equipment first and we actually have quite a few events pouring in for us...we have 1 of those two booked weddings this coming weekend a couple shoot on the beach the following weekend...and a couple shoot for the people who booked us to do their wedding (wedding number 2 that is) and then we have to do wedding number 2....none of this includes our kids events ...the work we like to do for free...with churches and people who simply cant afford photographers...non profits...things like that.....oh and we are doing another couple photo shoot for the people who provided us with the above pic..... you would think this was our full time job at this point LOL

I will most likely post again this week...its a bit more fun than I thought :-) but if not I will be posting again next week ...hopefully with some killer shots fo the wedding we are doing in yorktown....thanks for reading!
